He’s a lad that’s been around the drift scene and pits for several years, often the reliable hand and crew for the mighty 06 drivers and as they say “You become who you hang around with”

We catch up with the new comer from Hawkes Bay Al Paka Drift akak Al Sorensen as he reinstates more rotary faith back into the Kaspa Transmissions Pro-Sport field.
Q:For those that don’t know you – tell us a bit about yourself?
A:Names Al or Alpaka/paka I’m from Hawkes bay. I have my own painting business here that helps pay for the drift life. I have been involved with the Valvoline New Zealand D1NZ for the last 5 years or so crewing for Dylan Woolhouse Drift Motorsport, AW Drift’s Adam Whitehead and Rowan Bainbridge -I thought was my time to give it a go.
Q:Your weapon of choice, let us know more about what’s under the hood and drive line…
A: Mazda RX7 FD 13b extendy port turbo 310kw all build by chicken at Efi and Turbo 5 speed Gfroce gfs-r gear box have a hgt sequential on the way. S4 RX7 locked diff
Q: Its your first year competing in D1NZ but we have seen you out and about supporting the boys, what track are you looking forward to this season?
A: Definitely Pukekohe . Was the first time I ever went in a drift car was there with Dylan Woolhouse 180km and he split the gear box in half
Q: If there’s on driver you’d like to battle who would it be?
A: Mad Mike Whiddett haha if he still doing it. But definitely Adam Whitehead we have some good friendly banter and he’s still 2-0 in battles so I got to catch up
